My father spent 45 days at Park Place Nursing and Rehab following a massive stroke. During this time, we really had the opportunity to get to know several members of the staff, and to experience the effect of their care for my father.
I first have to mention Will, my father's Physical Therapist. He went above and beyond expectations, giving great effort to provide my father the best opportunity for recovery! He not only put forth exceptional manual exertion, but he also did some key problem solving to help in reducing contractures being experienced by my father. Keisha, the Occupational Therapist, was quite a support in this venture! Jasmine, the Director of Physical Therapy, guided us in developing and adjusting goals as the process went along. And I always appreciated Ken's friendly and positive demeanor! There are other therapists whose names I do not remember, but who stand out for their friendly engagement.
Next I have to bring up the generous and kind Chef Ossiney. My father has never eaten as well as he did during the 45 days at Park place. He ate his full breakfast almost every morning, and a good portion of most meals. My family and I regularly dined at Park Place with my father, and this was such a treat! It provided a wonderful opportunity to feel like we were dining out with my father, and my children and I enjoyed every meal, as well as each genuine interaction with Chef O!
I also would like to mention the CNAs who cared for my father, because they were so attentive and doting, ensuring my father was clean, dry, warm, well-fed, and hydrated! Thank you Anita, Marie, and Hannah! They genuinely seemed to care, and it reflected in my dad's countenance!
Then there were the RNs who took care of my father: Kirkley (now appropriately Director of Nursing), Roseline, and Briana. Thank you to each one of you for your attentiveness to my father, and also for bringing him the Med Pass shakes which he thoroughly enjoyed, and which added to his nutrition! Also, there was such support from my fellow Floridian Kayla (ADON), and also from Melina (NP), both intervening whenever there were any changes in my father's presentation, bringing us as the family peace of mind. I cannot forget doctor B. and his open demeanor and willingness to make adjustments on my dad's behalf! I also appreciated the unit secretary Christina for her help in setting up appointments and transfers several weeks out. And, thanks to Mechelle, the wound care nurse, who attended to my father.
Lest I forget, the person we interacted with first at Park Place was Faith, who gave us the tour, and was constantly moving through the halls and making sure everyone was doing well. Next interactions were with Stephanie and Cindy in the Admissions Office. They were the ones who made everything come together in a timely and seamless way, thank you! April was so helpful in the Business Office! Roshana and Lauri in Social Services were so available to guide us in navigating the process. Vivica, the weekend Social Services coordinator, also provided assistance during the first weekend. Roshana came through for us impressively towards the end of our stay, and I am very grateful for that!
Then there were others who also affected our time visiting Park Place. There were welcoming CNAs like Sharon, Terrance, and Adler, the very personable activities director Robbie, the always helpful front desk personnel, Anna and Yasmine, and others whose names are not coming to me, but the overall atmosphere from all involved was one of friendliness and problem-solving!
I love that there always seemed to be someone available when needed! Other noteworthy elements of Park Place are the lovely inner courtyards where we took my father for fresh air a number of times, the movie room with a dedicated sitter, the coffee and pastries available for patients and visitors, the fun (and tasty) activities that Robbie regularly set up, and the hairdresser that came on site to trim hair and beards.
